VFE was founded by World Vision International, a well-known global NGO dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice. In 1995 , the NGO started operating microfinance institutions around the world with the aim of empowering families to create income and jobs and thereby ensuring a brighter future for their children. Financial services go hand in hand with training and workshops to support clients to successfully grow their business.

VFE offers non-financial services, including business trainings and counselling, as well as social workshops related to health, environment, and protection of children’s rights. The cost of these non-financial services is included within the loan charged interest rates.
